Nationwide Bloodhound Rescue

Every hound deserves a soft place to land.

South Central Bloodhound Rescue keeps bloodhounds across the country off the streets and out of shelters. Our dogs live with foster families, get full veterinary care, and are carefully matched with homes that are ready for a nose-first, big-hearted companion.

How Our Program Works

Every hound gets the love, care and attention they deserve

Fostered in real homes

Our bloodhounds live with foster families as part of the household, learning basic manners while we get to know their true temperament.

Fully vetted

Each hound is evaluated by a veterinarian, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and given any medical attention they need before going home.

Matched with care

We work with each adopter to pair them with the best companion for their lifestyle and home environment.

Powered by supporters

Everything we do is made possible through donations from caring individuals like you. Every gift goes straight to the hounds.

Adopt a Bloodhound

Ready to bring home a hound?

Start with an application so we can get to know you and your home. One of our volunteers will be in touch to take the next steps in our process.

Please note: bloodhounds follow their noses wherever they lead, so we require an above-ground fenced yard for all adoptions.

Adoption Fees

Puppies, 0–6 months

$450

6 months – 8 years

$350

8 years and older

$250

Seniors in our Vintage Hounds Program have their own fee. Fees for special-needs hounds may be reduced at the Rescue Director’s discretion.

Three ways to change a hound’s life

Foster

Open your home for a few weeks or months. Fosters are the heart of our program — the more we have, the more hounds we can say yes to.

Donate or Sponsor

Vet bills, transport, food and beds all add up. A one-time gift, a sponsorship, or a tribute in someone’s name keeps hounds moving toward home.

Ways to give →

Vintage Hounds

Our seniors still have plenty of love to give. The Vintage Hounds Program helps older bloodhounds find comfortable homes for their golden years.
